The estate and the wine |

A benchmark in the Mâconnais and awarded 2 stars by RVF, Domaine Barraud is a must-visit destination. The high standards applied in both the vineyard and the cellar, the organic farming practices, and the meticulous care from Julien Barraud and his sister Anaïs elevate their cuvées to the pinnacle of their appellation. These are outstanding white wines for aging, distinguished by their balance and precision. |

The 2021 white Pouilly-Fuissé Alliance Vieilles Vignes shows great aging potential and already offers a delightful expression of Chardonnay grown on limestone and clay. This wine comes from five parcels of vines aged between 45 and 65 years, which lend it remarkable depth. The nose features ripe, buttery notes with intense toasted oak, alongside floral touches and white fruit. The palate is broad, generous, and crisp, highlighted by the minerality typical of limestone-rich areas. The aging process is still noticeable but promising, as it will refine with a bit more time in the cellar. A successful wine indeed! Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee. |
