The estate and the wine |
|
|
In the heart of Gigondas, Domaine du Gour de Chaulé is fast establishing itself as a new benchmark for the appellation. Now under the leadership of Paul Fumoso, the estate is experiencing an impressive rise in quality.
Awarded two stars by La Revue du Vin de France—a leading French wine magazine—and certified organic, this domaine has carved out a distinctive style, far removed from the powerful, sun-drenched Southern Rhône standards. Its understated cuvées evolve beautifully over time, shaped by complex terroirs and meticulous whole-cluster fermentations with minimal added sulfur, followed by extended aging in large wooden casks and concrete vats.
These wines shine with remarkable elegance and finesse, showcasing the character of old vines planted across varied soils. A stroke of brilliance praised by Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World and member of the Selection Committee. |

A blend of three terroirs—limestone, sand, and clay—the 2023 Gigondas Les Jardinières Red delivers admirable finesse, with delicate aromas of potpourri and dried roses in a silky, gently powdery style. The palate follows suit, offering a fresh, vibrant, and wonderfully drinkable texture framed by smooth tannins and lifted by a subtle, pleasant bitterness on the finish. A magnificent cuvée, celebrated for its refinement and balance. Selected as a favourite pick by the Selection Committee, and rated 95/100. |
