The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine An undisputed icon of the Rhône Valley, Michel Chapoutier boasts an extraordinary portfolio of prestigious wines. A visionary winemaker and a pioneering advocate of biodynamics, he has earned worldwide recognition for his instinctive approach and unwavering commitment to excellence. His wines are a benchmark of consistency, each one capturing the purest expression of its terroir with remarkable precision and depth.
Wine A single-vineyard wine produced in limited quantities, the 2021 Red Côte-Rôtie Neve is a pure Syrah from a distinctive terroir—steep slopes of schist and mica-schist in Ampuis, facing south-southeast. This wine masterfully balances structure and finesse with remarkable intensity, delivering deep aromas of black fruits, graphite, and black pepper. The palate is finely sculpted, precise, and exceptionally pure, showcasing the elegance and power of this exceptional Rhône Valley terroir.
Vinification Hand harvested, 100% destemmed. Vinification in raw concrete tanks, alcoholic fermentation using indigenous yeasts, wine stays on the skins for 4 to 5 weeks with regular pumping over at the start of maceration, then some punching down and work on the lees over the last 3 weeks of maceration. Aged in Burgundy barrels of 228 litres, 25% to 30% of which are new, for 14 to 18 months depending on the vintage.

Certified organic and biodynamic wine.
