The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Located in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of the jewels of the Côte-de-Nuits, boasting an impressive collection of crus whose names are the stuff of dreams: Richebourg, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Clos de Vougeot, Corton, Echezeaux, Chambolle-Musigny...
Trained by Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicolas Méo has been at the helm of this benchmark address since 1989, whose qualities are widely recognized and whose every bottle is snapped up by collectors. The wines are pure marvels, great perfumed Burgundies, polished by luxurious ageing, with admirable body and depth of texture, and capable of gaining in depth with age.
These serious, meticulously-crafted wines are now at their very best, and should be tasted as soon as possible!
Wine From a 2-hectare plot with vines approaching 50 years of age, the 2017 red Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes is a firm, broadly spiced, fruity and floral wine that is beginning its long aging journey. A very carefully-crafted, well-calibrated wine, whose great volume, buoyed by ageing, is beginning to loosen up nicely. It's still in the running!
Vinification Hand harvested. Part of the vines planted in the delicate 1950s, the other part in the 1970s. Low-intervention winemaking. Aged in barrels.
