The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine One of the Rhône Valley's most respected winemakers, Pierre-Jean Villa, 2-star rated in the prestigious French RVF Wine Guide, continues to impress with every vintage. His wines, full of energy and depth, have captivated wine enthusiasts.

With 17 hectares spread across the region’s most celebrated appellations, including Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu, Villa crafts wines of extraordinary precision and vigor. His deep understanding of the Rhône's schist and granite soils allows him to create intensely fragrant, elegant wines that truly reflect their terroir.
Wine Made from 40% old vines, including pre-phylloxera serine planted in 1930, the 2023 Saint-Joseph Préface Red masterfully combines the fruity character of the vintage with impressive depth and structure. This is a wine with substance, texture, and personality, showcasing a vibrant fruit expression and the finest reflection of its granite soils. Ripe, pure, and full of flavour, it’s a superbly balanced Saint-Joseph. The textured, spice-laden body, supported by impeccable barrel ageing, and a subtly saline finish, already make it utterly irresistible.
Vinification Hand-harvested, totally de-stemmed, macerated for 20 days.
Aged for 14 months in 500-liter barrels and demi-muids.
