The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine The Tenuta San Guido is a leading figure of the "super Tuscans" and is better known by the name of one of its wines, Sassicaia, which has marked the history of Italian wines forever. Along with Ornellaia, Solaia and Ca'Marcanda, it is at the top of the world rankings.
Wine The 2021 Red Guidalberto IGT Toscana is Sassicaia's second wine. Just as precise and inspiring, with a slightly softer texture in its youth, it does not suffer any comparison with the top wine. The great art of Tenuta San Guido is at work around these Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French and American oak, profiling a fresh, intense, and generous palate, with notes of spices, black olives, and wild blackberries. A great introduction to the Sassicaia style!
Vinification Hand harvested. The grapes are sorted directly in the vineyard and then a second sorting is done in the cellar. Destemming and gentle pressing to avoid brutal pressure on the grapes. Vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Aged in French and American oak barrels for 20 to 25 months.
