Domaine Valentin Zusslin - Alsace Bollenberg - Pinot Noir - Red - 2020

Wine:

The 2020 Red Alsace Bollenberg Pinot Noir offers a modern interpretation of the grape, built for ageing. Still showing some influence from its maturation, it will benefit from time to develop greater harmony, but its firm, iron-tinged energy drives a vibrant finish. The wine remains crisp and delicately spiced, supported by a taut structure of firm, lively tannins that bring both tension and depth. Rated 93/100 by the French wine guide RVF.

Vinification:

Hand harvested in 20kg crates from vines on different plots in the ‘Bollenberg’ area. Destemming followed by 2 weeks' pellicular maceration. Matured 50% in tuns and 50% in 228-litre barrels with no new wood.

Color:

Dark red with garnet highlights.

Nose:

Delicate, subtle aromas of crushed strawberries with a hint of oriental spices.

Palate:

A fresh, juicy structure reveals a vibrant, fruit-driven Pinot Noir with well-balanced maturation.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Rack of veal with chanterelle mushrooms, entrecôte of beef roasted with herbs, grilled duck breast, matured farmhouse Saint-Nectaire cheese or a tomme from Tamié Abbey.
