Wine:

For some enthusiasts, Tondonia Rosé is nothing short of a marvel—a true rosé crafted to accompany fine cuisine. And we’re not the only ones who think so: even the Parker guide awarded it a phenomenal 96/100! This is without question one of the greatest Mediterranean rosés around. Could it rival the top French rosés? It just might.

The 2010 Viña Tondonia Rosé Gran Reserva is truly one of a kind. A blend of Grenache, Tempranillo, and a touch of the white grape Viura from 90-year-old vines, this rosé is full of surprises. Aged in American oak barrels, it is supremely elegant, unveiling increasingly complex aromas—a delicate mix of tangy red berries, a hint of fennel and chalk, subtle mineral and petrol notes, along with nuances of oak, licorice, floral tones, and soft spices. On the palate, it’s pristine and crystalline, fresh and long, with remarkable balance and depth. Arguably the finest rosado in recent years! Just 25,000 bottles were produced. Best served around 12°C with spiced dishes or grilled meats. Rated 96/100 by the Parker guide.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, aged for four years in barrels, bottled without filtration in April 2016. Then stored in bottles in the estate's cellars. 25,000 bottles produced.

Color:

Onion skin color, satiny, evolving towards brick red.

Nose:

Notes of tart red berries, a hint of fennel and chalk, a touch of mineral and petrol, accents of oak, licorice, flowers, and sweet spices.

Palate:

On the palate, it is clean and crystalline, fresh and long, with tremendous balance and depth.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Artisanal charcuterie, spicy dishes, grilled meats, Spanish cuisine, but why not Indian, Mexican, or Chinese, for example?
